Caregiver voices

In India, because of poor awareness of dementia, and consequent lack of recognition of the caregiver’s role and challenges, we caregivers are unable to connect with others facing similar situations. Many of us do not openly talk of our experiences because people around us do not understand, or are critical and consider us as “complaining” about doing what is “natural” and our “duty”.

Inability to share experiences with others means we are not prepared for the range of situations we may face, nor do we get to share observations and tips on handling these. We are not able to hone the caregiving skills because each of us is trying to reinvent the wheel, and many of the skills required are not obvious.

In this section, we share caregiver voices gathered through interviews/ quotes. through blogs and sites, through news articles.

We also invite you to tell us your story, share your concerns, and tips. Or to share links you feel can be added to this section. Please write to us at:
